The low profile design is optimized for applications such as furniture delivery, landscaping, towing, car carrying and the delivery of building materials and water bottles. The 258 LP is equipped with the HINO 220 H.P. J-series OHC 4-valve turbocharged, intercooled 6-cylinder engine.

The Hino 258 LP comes standard with 6-speed Eaton FS5406A manual transmission. An optional Allison 2200RDS automatic transmission is available. Braking is accomplished through a hydraulic dual circuit system with ABS.

The 2009 Hino 258 LP comes standard with air-conditioning, cruise-control, tilt and telescopic steering, electric windows, AM/FM CD player, a self-adjusting clutch (M/T models only), an adjustable reclining air-suspension seat, a chrome bumper and a chrome grille.
