The 338 is equipped with the Hino 220 H.P. J-Series OHC 4-valve turbocharged, intercooled 6-cylinder engine.

The 338 comes standard with a 6-speed Eaton FS5406A manual transmission and the availability of an optional 6-speed Allison 2500 RDS automatic transmission. Braking is accomplished through a hydraulic dual circuit with ABS.

The 2009 338H Hino comes standard with air-conditioning, cruise-control, tilt and telescopic steering, electric windows, AM/FM CD player, an adjustable reclining air-suspension seat, (selfadjusting clutch (M/T models only), oil-lubricated front-wheel bearings, a chrome bumper and a chrome grille.
